AOC G2460PQU 24" LED 1ms 144hz 1080P
Now acts as a secondary screen instead of my Alienware M17X R4 laptop. |
Asus TUF VG247Q1A 24" IPS 1ms 165hz 1080P
New main screen |
There are 2 trash Philips LED 5ms 60hz 1080P screens on top of these 2. |
Reasoning.
PSU: I chose this one, because it was a really good price, I knew it would last long, future proofing (In case I wanted to go Xfire or SLI), being able to just plug anything in without any worries, no overclocking concerns, even if I decided on multiple GPU's, not worry about any expansion cards if I ever got any of those and various other reasons.
Case: I chose that one because of the bottom cover for the PSU, the holes for cable routing, pricing, size, 5,2" slot for a dvd, the monochrome colors, the style and various minor reasons.
Mobo: This was chosen after a lot of research, but mostly because of the superior VRM's at the time for overclocking, various other features and reasons.
CPU: I chose the 1700X, because of the price for performance, and with the superior VRM's of the Mobo, I knew I could push a better clock ratio, than I could with the 1800X, I also chose it because it was on the 8C/16T threshold, which is what I needed and still need for various workloads and streaming, there's various other reasons as well.
GPU: This was chosen because I needed to replace my MSI R9 390 8G, which 1 of the 2 fans had gummed up and stopped spinning, and the 1660 SUPER was the only GPU I could afford on top of getting 2 new monitors, double my RAM from 16 to 32gig and some other upgrades, also for various other reasons of course.
RAM: I chose these because the Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz I bought first, made it so that the system wouldn't even boot, I also chose them because they were really cheap for their clocking and timing capabilities, also because of the stated compatibility with Ryzen.
Storage: This is less interesting, because it just comes down to read/write/IOps/price/what I had from other systems.
CPU Cooler: It was the only reliable cooler at the time, so I didn't have much choice, that having been said, I'm not regretting getting it, it works just as intended, even better than expected, especially when I changed the included single fan to 2x Corsair ML 120 Mag. lev. fans.
DAC: I chose this one because it was small, it had a volume wheel, it's compact, I had a bass and a guitar at that point as well, and since it has a 5,2mm input, I could hook those in and maybe make music with a real bass and guitar, it had the same sized output for headphones, for higher data rates and in turn better quality, I instantly fell in love with their RME TotalMix software because of the level of control and what not, also because I wanted to move into the XLR level of quality.
Headphones: I chose these because those were the ones I used at my job at this point and I grew used to them, I also lived the quality of the sound and various other aspects of them.
Mic: I chose this one because it's RODE, their stuff is really good, they and Sennheiser are the only ones I can support, that having been said, RODE has the better mics for the price, while Sennheiser has the best headphones for the price.
Mouse: Because of the Coolermaster Sentinel Storm Advance 2 8200 DPI (I'm a high sensitivity user, I like to be able to physically move the mouse slightly but have the pointer move a lot, because I don't have much space for the mouse and various other reasons) I had didn't scroll properly, the scroll button (button 3/pressing the scroll down like a button) didn't work at all anymore.
The Ironclaw had at least as many buttons and at least that high DPI count, it seemed to be about the same size and various other things. |
Keyboard: This was chosen because it was the only laptop-style/low profile keyboard I could find with a nordic layout, shine-through legend, hot-swap keys and switches, also because I already had iCUE from the IronClaw, I thought I didn't need any more stupid software to control everything.
Controller: I chose this one because I was used to the Xbox 360 controller at the time and still are.
Monitor (TUF): Because of the 1ms, 165hz and IPS display, Can't fit a 27", so I can't go 1440P or 4K, so this was the best option for the moment at least until I build my own PC desk.

Expensive software I PAID for and OWN.
After Effects CS6 I know: "Why would you PAY for something like that?" Because I use it daily, it's fun and I want to be professional, also, no legal actions can be taken against me.
Video Copilot's Element 3D with Pro Shaders 2. Because I wanted to dabble in 3D. |
Fruity Loops Studio Producer Because I like the workflow in FL and owning it removes any legal stuff that I don't have to deal with now.
ReFX Nexus 2 Because I'm lazy, I didn't want to deal with making my own sounds from scratch or from a preset even at the time. |
